poor little rich girl was opened by meredith byam in april of 2002.

meredith graduated from newton's lasell college with a degree in fashion design.  while in school, she realized after taking a fashion history class that her real passion was in spotting, recognizing, and forecasting trends...which eventually led her into the consignment business.  after "learning the ropes" at local consignment chain, second time around, for a few years, she decided it was time to branch out on her own.

she decided to open in davis square thinking it was the perfect neighborhood for her quirky, eclectic, fun-loving style.

poor little rich girl was originally on highland avenue, now the home of magpie, in 700 sq feet! 

faced with the problem of too little space and too much clothing, meredith decided to take the big leap into the 3500 sq. ft. store in september of 2006.

two months and many late nights later (check out the construction pics down below!), the new incarnation of plrg opened in november of 2006.

in december of 2008 poor little rich girl opened it's second store (yay!), this time on boston's fashionable newbury street!!!

this shop is a tiny offspring of the bigger store, at only 550 square feet...but it's very cute (see pics below!).

since the newbury street store is a lot smaller, she opted to make it a shop full of her hand selected vintage and designer items rather than consignment.

november of 2009 brought an additional poor little rich girl to the kendall square/inman square area.  located at 121 hampshire street, this store encompasses both vintage and modern in about 1500 square feet. 

in april of 2010, the davis square location was closed (please see the somerville page of this website for details.) 

when not at work, she is out buying stock for the store...or spending time with her husband (who can be found working at the stores too!), her dog henry, her sis, and her nephew.
