Poor Little Rich Girl

The divine darlings of POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL hold every piece of antique clothing in the store dear to their hearts. It’s a goldmine of pillbox hats, antique fur wraps, beaded dresses, the odd Christian Dior or two (if only the ladies of the 1940s hadn’t been so tiny), all lovingly cared for and treated with reverence. This is a great place for grown-ups to play dress up, but also to find contemporary designer clothing at slashed prices, all in pristine condition.

"used not abused":

For a consignment-venture, POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL’s (255 Elm Street) selection of vintage-meets-contemporary is especially discerning. We never feel let down after patronizing PLRG. Besides the clothes, the shoe tables are stocked: the Ferragamo flats and cowboy boots are the stand-outs, so pray they’ve got something in your size. We also adore the antique-but-not-grandma jewelry (cameo face pendant, $20) and the wallet and clutch section. A beaded vintage purse for $35 sounds impractical, except our heart sort of stopped when we touched it. Such is the power of awesome old things. Oh, and as expensive it can get here, you can bet it would cost twice as much in New York City. So you can lay down your dollars, look great, and feel completely justified about it. (At least that’s what we tell ourselves.)

"poor little rich girl, don’t let the name deceive you.
this davis square den of discard could be called “Rich Little Poor Girl” for the variety of secondhand women’s wear at dirt cheap prices."
